Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $90,500-$121,600. ​

POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

The Department of Bioengineering in the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California, San Diego is inviting applications for Project Scientists (non-tenured; Assistant, Associate or Full level) in Bioengineering.

At UC San Diego, Project Scientists are academic researchers who are expected to make significant and creative contributions to a research team. They are not required to carry out independent research or develop an independent research reputation but will publish and carry out research or creative programs with supervision by a member of the Professor or Professional Research series.

Project Scientists may not serve as Principal Investigators but may serve as Co-Principal Investigators with members of the Professor or Research Scientist series. University and public service are encouraged but not required, and they do not have formal teaching responsibilities. Appointments are generally for two years, with reappointment reviews to renew. The duration of the appointment will vary depending on the length of the research project and the availability of funding in the Professor's lab that is hiring.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Basic qualifications (Required at Time of Application)
PhD or advancement to candidacy in Bioengineering or related engineering discipline is required for this position.

Additional qualifications (Required at Time of Start)
All candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Bioengineering, or related field by the start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates who have at least one year postdoctoral experience post-degree completion, are preferred.

Candidates with outstanding writing and communication skills, as demonstrated by a successful publication record, are preferred.

We are looking to select exceptional individuals in the development of bioengineering sciences, methods and instrumentation with: Experience and engineering background with previous employment working in the fields of genomic, molecular, nuclear, cellular, organismal, physicological analysis and design, or functional biomechanics and systems analysis.
